Start with the denominator
Return to player concerns stakes and prizes. Stakes include money staked again after a win; they are not simply the amount deposited into an account. This distinction matters when someone compares a session’s remaining balance with a published percentage. A balance and a theoretical return measure different things.
As a deliberately invented arithmetic example, 100 units of total stakes and 92 units in prizes produce a measured return of 92%. That calculation says what happened in that selected sample. It does not establish the theoretical return of the game, or predict a second sample.
Designed return and measured return
The Gambling Commission distinguishes the designed theoretical return from the actual return calculated from recorded play. Its remote monitoring guidance also explains why volatility and sample size matter when assessing a deviation. That is an operator monitoring framework in Great Britain, not a method for a reader to identify a profitable next spin.
A higher theoretical percentage does not guarantee a winning session. Nor does a losing session prove that a game is operating below its stated model. Without the exact configuration, enough appropriate data and a statistical method, those conclusions exceed the evidence.
What to check on a real game
Identify the exact title and edition first. Then look in the game’s own help for the relevant return statement, mode and configuration. A provider’s general marketing page may not identify the operator instance you are using.
Our entries leave configuration-specific RTP unlisted when those links are missing. Treat that absence as a research limit, not as a zero return, a low rating or a reason to borrow a percentage from a similarly named title. Gambling can result in losing the entire amount staked.
